Pine Ridge
LOG - Day 4
At the computer center three students showed up right away in the morning. These were our most regular students, Don and Shelly who were there every day and Shirley who only missed yesterday due to illness. After lunch Neal picked up Pat and they took the donated computer, we brought with us, to a young lady, named Shaina, who just graduated from 8th grade and will be starting high school at Red Cloud in fall. She was recommended by the principle at Our Lady of Lourdes school. She is a good student who will put the computer to good use. No one else showed up while I was gone, so we decided to pack up and head back after checking out the progress at LOL school. The playground crew spred the restg of the one hill of pea gravel in the moringing and headed back to Pineridge, by the time we arrivied the other mound had been spred around with a dump buggy. Carol and Nancy brought us our lunch. We joined the rest of the group visiting Red CLoud School just a few mile outside of Pine Ridge. We received a tour of the campus and the church on the grounds which was build in 1998 after the original 1898 church burned. Carol served up another great meal. After eatting we walked over to the pow wow grounds and saw a wonderful display of dancers in native dress. We finished the night with cherry cobler and ice cream and with devotions and discussions lead by Nancy. The cell phones are not getting very good coverage so we received a message from Allie, through the staff person for Youth Works, for Dave and Mary to call Mary-Elizabeth. She let them know of the heavy rain you have been experiencing back home. Neal
