Tuesday
We were fortunate again today that we didn't have rain for the work crew. They did run into a few snags though. They needed more cement than they had originally thought was on-sight. Luckily they were able to get more in Pine Ridge so they did not have to go all the way to Rapid City for it as they thought they might. The other snag was that the playground is not as level as it looks. The unit they are completing this year includes a three way slide. The middle slide is supposed to be 14” above the ground and once they got it assembled and on, it sat right on the ground. Not good! They were able to arrange for someone to bring some equipment in tomorrow to help move the pea gravel and try to level things out. Hopefully it can be done without having to re-do too much of what has already been put together.
Mary and David have been diligently painting boards for fencing. The fencing is to go up around the grotto area. Sister Susan had asked for assistance with that if we had extra people or time. We may not have the extra time now because of the delays with playground installation. At least the materials will be painted and ready to be put up by others.
Neal, Ellen, and Bud had a few people come in for computer tutoring today. Designing WEB sights seems to be a common theme this year. It is a good thing Neal is here. There were also some that came in for help with other programs. Aldeen came by with questions about the computer we brought for her last year. She brought it in and Neal helped clean up some files and empty some memory space.
Nancy lead us in devotions tonight again. It so nice to have that incorporated into our evening once again. We are also fortunate to have our cooks for lunches. They keep us well fed. Lunch was shared with the Manderson folks and Elaine, who is the current director, offered to bring us elk burgers for lunch tomorrow. It will be interesting to taste them. It is usually at our shared meals at the college that we get to know the folks here better.
