Monday
We split up this morning and went our various ways. The playground group went to Our Lady of Lourdes school, the computer group went to Manderson and Barb and Mary went to see Karen White Butterfly, at Wakayeya Pawicayapi, Inc and deliver the sewing machine. They had thoughts of perhaps helping some folks with sewing but weren't sure. They had a good visit with Karen and some of the other people at the Cultural Center.
The computer group met up with Vina White Hawk. She has been at Manderson since we started coming out here. We also met the new Director at the Manderson extension. Her name is Elaine. Her children go to OLL school so she said she would have to go look at the playground the next time she goes there. We did not have any students today but were only there for two hours. One of the other employees there is looking for help with establishing a WEB page so she will try to meet with Neal some time this week while we are there.
We all met at OLL for lunch with the children. They had a little presentation of a banner that all of the children had signed and a cake in honor of the completion of the project there. That was very nice.
After lunch, Neal, Bud, and Ellen went to see Karen White Butterfly to visit with her and deliver the sewing machine cabinet, guitar, and books on equestrian therapy. We were able to learn about the program she is involved in and catch up on how things are going with her and her family. She gave us a tour of the facilities and introduced us to other people that work there. It was very good to touch bases with her again.
The group working on the playground were able to get the platform for the new piece in place and the concrete poured. Getting everything level and put together properly is not as easy as it sounds. Getting the concrete in place so it can set overnight was a good goal for the day.
