Friday

It was sunny and mild today with a nice breeze. It was just right for working at the playground. There wasn't too much standing water to deal with. We used pea gravel and boards to keep from getting too muddy. The slides were completed and cemented in, the pea gravel was redistributed to cover the area that had been excavated, and a bench was anchored in cement by the shrine in front of the school. Bud also put screws in all of the boards on the wooden fort and replaced a board that was missing on that. We checked bolts for tightening and spray painted any scratches and missing paint as a maintenance precaution.

Gloria treated us to a wonder buffalo roast this afternoon. She and Sister Susan presented us with wonderful gifts of appreciation. They will be treasured mementos of our time here.

Bud and Carol tried to stop by to see Karen White Butterfly once more. She wasn't available today but they were able to visit with some of the folks at the heritage center. One told them how excited they were to have the sewing machine, and had gone out to get more material already. She is looking forward to working with the children with the machine.

It was clean up night for us at Re-Member and our last night here. Some will be leaving bright and early in the morning and driving straight back to Fond du Lac and others will leave later in the morning to either go home or go on to do some traveling. We have had a very successful year and were able to complete the project we set out to do five years ago.
