Friday

It is Friday already. Much has been accomplished this week. We all went to the playground to see the finished project and for a group photo. The grotto group has gone earlier to get a start on the work they wanted to complete today. We also wanted to have a ceremony of dedication for Bob and Judy and all that they have done to make the dream of the playground a reality. We purchased an apple tree and a holly bush to plant at the playground in their honor. It was a surprise so it was pretty special. We were lead in prayer and then sang Amazing Grace, followed by a reading of the Indian version of the 23rd Psalm, another reading and ending with a prayer. Bob & Judy began the digging of the holes for the plants and others finished. Sister Susan said some words about the playground being the dream of a former 1st grade teacher there. She was extremely moved at seeing that dream become a reality.

After our ceremony the grotto group went back to work. Avery is quite the slave driver. Ha! He has been a good team leader and helped to get the grotto work done.

Neal and Ellen headed south after that so we may need to finish this report later this month. The plan for the rest of the day as far as we knew was that Bob, Barb, and Ruth were going to go meet with the staff at Manderson to discuss whether or not our group could get involved in a playground project there in the future. There were questions on both sides yet that needed to be answered before making a decision.

As work and meetings finished, people were going to break up into groups and go sightseeing and/or shopping. We did not have the major cleanup last night as there was still one more night to go, so that will have to be done tonight.

The journey home will begin tomorrow after breakfast.
