Thursday

Today began with a bang. Thunderstorms rolled through around 5:00 a.m. Some people slept through it so I guess they were pretty tired. It remained cloudy , rainy, and cold throughout the day. Despite the weather, the playground group was able to finish their project for this year by the end of the morning.

The computer group shared photos and video clips of the tornado with the staff at the college and other people who came in. We had a return visitor so we were happy to see him and his friend. Aldeen came to the center today. Kathy was hoping to touch bases with her and we had a computer for her. She brought her CPU to the center so Neal could transfer her files onto the new computer. That will be handy because then all she will need to do is take it home and plug it in. We were also fortunate enough to see Karen White Butterfly today. She has been our contact person here for the past 4 years. She will be leaving her position here and was on leave this week so we weren't sure we would see her. We will miss her but hope to be able to continue to come and offer computer tutoring in the future. Other staff members seem to be receptive to that.

Both the computer group and the playground group met at Betty's Kitchen for lunch today. Betty runs her restaurant out of her home so it really is her kitchen. It is right in Manderson and she has very good food. The grotto group did not meet us for lunch as they were diligently trying to complete their project despite the rain. As long as they worked on the interior walls they were protected from the rain.

This evening is a scheduled cleanup day at the Re-Member center so we have our work cut out for us there. We have found that with everyone participating the work is fairly painless and goes quickly.
