Wednesday
It's Wednesday already. The computer group had one return person today. There were other people coming in to use the computers but they did not need our help. Kathy had a couple of children that she engaged in conversation and the one was interested in doing things on the computer. Robert was a younger child and said, “Goodbye Grandma” when he left. That was a nice compliment for her. Vina brought in a CD of Ben Black Hawk for us to listen to during our down time. That was very nice also. We left a little early due to threatening weather.
Ruth finished painting the horses at the playground this morning.
The grotto group worked on the inner ceiling and because of the effect of gravity, it took a much longer time than the sides. They tried to finish having one coat on everything but were interrupted because of the sighting of a tornado in the distance. They will try to apply a second coat tomorrow.
The roof was installed on the tree house by 10:00 this morning. All accessories except the spiral ladder have been installed and cemented in place. Gravel was being hauled in all low lying areas and spread evenly. They expect to finish tomorrow, weather permitting. The tornado interrupted work today toward the end of the work day. No one from our group was affected by the tornado but we have some absolutely amazing pictures of it from the time it developed until the time it dissipated. We have not heard of any injuries as the result of the tornado so hopefully it did not go through a populated area.
We have had a very good work week so far and have accomplished things without a great deal of difficulty.
We have interacted with the other group staying at Re-Member. During the rain storm that passed through after everyone was back at the center, we even participated in a hymn sing. It was fun. We were supposed to go see the Crazy Horse Riders camp, and eat with them today, however, again because of the weather we did not go. Later in the evening the sun came out and it looked just beautiful. A few of our folks took a ride to see some of the Black Hills. The rest of us enjoyed conversation and/or card games.
