LOG - Day 1

The computer team did not have a student today, however one person stopped in before we left and said she would be back tomorrow. We have one computer house call to make in the afternoon too.

Dave and David had a good day at the hospital, it is run much as they remember a military hospital. They got a lot of orientation to the public health service, but did see some nice patients too.

The teaching group helped with the summer school this morning. School started at 8:30 but the students didn't make it until 9:30. There were 5 students in the K-4 grades. The teacher did not show up for those grades so our people were on their own. There were 10 students in the 5-8th grade group and they did have two teachers. Ruth was a big hit in the activity she did with them. Our people came to the computer center and joined the computer team for lunch. In the afternoon they split up and some went to the playground to help with painting and digging there. Another team went to the Parent House and did some cleaning there. This was challenging and the crew hit showers as soon as they returned to the dorms.

The team working on the playground equipment had a long day and got as much as they could done as a storm is threatening to come in later today. The cement was finally delivered after 3:30 pm, the truck lost 16 bags in the National park and returned to Rapid City to get replacements, so they were not able to do anything with it today. They are hoping to pour that tomorrow. The weather will be the deciding factor on that. They did repair one of the horses that Ruth will be painting. Ruth and Linda sanded the horses. Ruth and Judy put the first coat of paint on the horses. Judy and Sister Susan sanded and painted a yellow swing set. Bob and “Ron dug the eight holes for the base section of the tree house. Ben started to assemble the base section of the tree house in preparation of cementing it together tomorrow.
