Pine Ridge to Albert Lea, MN

LOG - Return Trip day 1

The day started with very light rain. David and Jean packed up and left first, Bob and Judy, Ron, Linda, and Kathy packed in the drizzle and were on their way to attach the last piece on the playground equipment which should have arrived yesterday afternoon at the school. Next to leave were Ben and Barb, followed by David, Mary, and Ruth. There was a pause in the drizzle while Ellen, Neal, and Nancy went to pack up. When it started up again we quickly got Bud and Carol packed up. The day was cloudy with on and off rain showers as we traveled East.

Even though each vehicle had its' own itinerary it was kind of fun to meet up with one or the other from our group along the way. Some of us met for supper in Albert Lea where a number of us are staying overnight. We did have an interesting surprise when we arrived at Albert Lea and went to check in at the Days Inn where we were supposed to be registered. From the story we were given it was sold and moved across the street to the Ramada so that is where our rooms ended up being. It seems strange but as long as we have rooms somewhere we didn't argue. Bob is trying to find out just what happen. On their way out they stayed at Days Inn and there was no problem. The desk clerks on both shifts were new and were unable to explain to Bob to his satisfation why we were switched. Bob will follow up with the management.

At supper we caught up on the events of the day. Apparently, the part for the playground equipment did arrive at Our Lady of Lourdes and Bob and Ron were able to attach it. There was a problem with the toy telescopes as they pointed into the ground and couldn't be moved. Sister Susan and Bob discussed options and decided that Bob should bring the parts back with him and take ithem back to the manufacturer . They will then have to send the corrected parts back to Sister Susan for installation. Needless to say we are fairly disgusted with the manufacturer at this point, however the tree house is together and can be used by the children.
